HUNDREDS of hospitality workers from across the North West are expected to gather at City Football Academy, the home of Manchester City’s training facility, to take part in a 7-a-side tournament for charity.
The Manchester Football Event in association with Manchester Hoteliers Association (MHA) will raise funds for Hospitality Action, which has supported people who work or have worked within hospitality in the UK and find themselves in crisis, for 180 years.
MHA board member Adam Munday (pictured), general manager of the INNSIDE Manchester hotel, said the Summer Bank Holiday on August 28 offers hoteliers a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to use the state of the art facilities at City Football Academy.
“At this time of year, hotels are usually going up against each other to gain the best Trip Advisor reviews. But on the Bank Holiday hundreds will get together at one of the best football training facilities in the world to play football and raise money for a great cause.
“To date we have plenty of teams signed up. However, there are a few spaces left for teams to enter with teams from across the hospitality sector more than welcome to join.
“If you are an average footballer who likes a kick-around, then this is a once in a lifetime chance to play on these facilities. The tournament will also provide hoteliers and those working in hospitality with a fantastic opportunity to build team morale as it will be competitive but also played in the right spirit.”
Last year’s event saw 24 teams participate in a tournament at Hotel Football next to Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.
