New CODE app brings discount benefits to hospitality workers

code app screenshotHOSPITALITY employees in Manchester are reaping the benefits of an exclusive app which gives them big discounts at selected venues around the city.

The CODE app was launched in London three years ago by leading restaurant consultant Adam Hyman and has since spread North.

To use the app, subscribers need to prove their employment in the hospitality industry by emailing a recent payslip, employment contract or confirmation from a line manager.

Following a 30-day free trial, subscribers are charged £11.99 a year for which they get a unique ID code to show on their digital devices at participating venues giving special offers and discounts in order to redeem them.

More than 30 restaurants in Manchester have already signed-up, including Busaba, Groucho, Hawksmoor, Ibérica, Tampopo, Bundobust and The Alchemist.  Venues outside the city include Almost Famous in Liverpool and Gary Usher’s Sticky Walnut in Chester.

One of the latest recruits is Albert’s Schloss, the traditional Bavarian bier cellar and entertainment venue in Peter Street, Manchester, which is offering a 50% discount on food and drink for CODE app subscribers and up to three friends on Sunday nights.

“We decided to use CODE as we believed it would be the easiest way to police who works in the industry and who doesn’t,” said Joe Richardson, sales and events.

“Our idea of doing an industry night on a Sunday was to give back to the guys that work long, hard hours in the madness that is Manchester’s weekend nightlife. It also gives our staff an opportunity to meet new people with similar schedules and further enables networking amongst the industry.

“A few of our staff members had mentioned other discounts they had used from CODE and it seemed like a great way to get our promotion out there targeting hospitality workers without pushing it on our social media.

“We only launched our Industry Sunday Promotion two weeks ago and it has already had a great impact on our Sunday night business.

“It’s refreshing after a long weekend to have a few drinks and a chat with other workers from the same industry who you may have never crossed paths with otherwise.”
