Five tips for growing your business with social media

Those operating in the hospitality industry, perhaps more than any other sector, are reliant on reputation. Using social media effectively to connect with relevant audiences and build positive rapports can add value to your brand and, hopefully, help attract new guests.

Network

There are multiple social media networks available, but it is important to focus your time and attention on the platform that will deliver the most for you. TripAdvisor is an excellent choice for hoteliers, who can respond to comments about a stay and truly interact with reviewers.

Engagemement

Staying interactive and making sure you communicate with your followers is vital. Keep your eye on news feeds, like, share and retweet to show you are paying attention.

Increasingly, people are turning to social media as their primary way of communicating with businesses, and according to a recent study by Convince and Convert, 42% of consumers now expect a response to a social media enquiry within 60 minutes.

Personality

Social pages with personality tend to have the most success, so don’t be afraid to have some fun and always communicate as a person, not a business. A friendly approach is much more suited to hospitality and will help you build stronger connections and ultimately attract more guests.

Creativity

Sharing unique content will help create awareness and engage users. Sharing useful blogs and articles with your community will add value and hopefully extend your reach.

Always avoid the exasperating sales speech and follow the 80/20 rule. Post 80% helpful and engaging content, and only 20% promotional content. Providing your own top tips copy for visitors to your area of the North West would be a good way to start!

Streamlining

Ensure your business can be easily discovered by having a streamlined online presence. Having different usernames for various networks can result in customers finding it difficult to locate all of your networks, and become confused as to which accounts are yours. This is especially important in areas with hotels of a similar name.
